Reproduction is an important and essentially biological process that helps in the production of offspring from their parents. Female and male reproductive organs are different in animals. Animals like plants have two modes of reproduction namely asexual and sexual reproduction

Animals have different male and female reproductive organs which produce gametes. The fusion of these gametes results in zygote formation which finally gives rise to a new individual.

Asexual reproduction:

This is the type of reproduction in which individuals are produced with the involvement of a single parent.

Male reproductive organs

Male reproductive organs consist of a penis, pair of the testis, and two sperm ducts.

Penis: Male organ used in sexual intercourse.

Testis: Sperms are known as male gametes which are produced by the testis.

Sperm ducts: It helps in the transport of sperm from the testis to the penis.

Sperm: Sperm functions like a single cell with all the necessary organelles present in the cell. Every day millions of sperm are produced. The structure of sperm is divided into three parts head, middle piece, and tail.

Female reproductive organs

The female reproductive system consists of a pair of ovaries, a fallopian tube, and the uterus.

Ovary: It helps in producing eggs (ovum) or female gamete and certain hormones. In females every month a single mature ova is released in the oviduct. This process is governed by a cycle of events known as the menstrual cycle.

Fallopian tube: It is the place where the fusion of male and female gamete takes place.

Uterus: The place where the zygote is nourished until the time of birth. It is the place where the development of a baby takes place.
