2. Irrigation:

The supply of water to crops present in the agricultural lands is defined as irrigation. Water is essential for plants, as they require it for the preparation of food, for transporting minerals and nutrients present in the soil to leaves and other parts of the flower. Thus, soil needs to be watered regularly so that the soil remains moist.

Sources of water for irrigation purpose are ponds, lakes, dams, rivers, and wells. Water is provided to crops through either sprinkler present at regular intervals or drips which provide water to roots drop by drop. During watering of plants, it should be taken care that water is not wasted, as it can be used for our daily needs as well.

3. Removal of weeds:

The growth of unwanted plants naturally along with crops is called as weeds and the process of removing weeds is called as weeding. It is necessary to remove weeds from the crops as these plants can compete for the soil, nutrients, water, and sunlight with our crops of interest. Some weeds are harmful to the health of humans and animals.

The weeds should be removed before the flowering season, otherwise, they tend to reproduce at a faster rate and damage the crops. The weeds can be removed manually and also removed with the help of chemicals called weedicides. These weedicides kill the seeds of the weeds but also tend to damage our crops and affect the health of farmers. This is the main drawback of weedicides.
